Sowing Seeds that Last a Lifetime

One of the many features that makes our Hand In Hand Early Learning Program unique is our fully accessible outdoor garden and amphitheater style classroom. With raised beds that allow children – including those in wheelchairs and walkers – to plant vegetables, plants, & flowers, this outdoor learning center is a positive, healthy setting where children learn, play, & develop.  Read here about how this important part of our campus enriches lives.

Happy 105th Birthday to United Ability Founder Dorothy Levy

Mrs. Dorothy Levy, instrumental in founding Spastic Aid of Alabama now known as United Ability, celebrated her 105th birthday with a party hosted by more than 60 children with and without disabilities at the Hand In Hand playground. Not only did she celebrate her birthday, she witnessed her dream of a place for children of all abilities becoming a reality. Click here to watch a video of the birthday festivities!

Over the last several years the idea of outside play seems to be slowly disappearing & consequently, there also seems to be a rise in children who have difficulties with sensory processing.
