United Ability Earns Coveted 4-Star Rating From Charity Navigator For 8th Consecutive Year
Birmingham, AL April 3, 2018- United Ability’s strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency have earned it a coveted 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator. It is the 8th consecutive time that United Ability has earned this top distinction.
Since 2002, using objective, data-driven analysis, Charity Navigator has awarded only the most fiscally responsible organizations a 4-star rating. In 2011, Charity Navigator added 17 metrics, focused on governance and ethical practices as well as measures of openness to its ratings methodology. These Accountability & Transparency metrics, which account for 50 percent of a charity’s overall rating, reveal which charities operate in accordance with industry best practices and whether they are open to their donors and stakeholders. On June 1, 2016, Charity Navigator upgraded their methodology for rating each charity’s’ financial health. These enhancements further substantiate the financial health of their four-star charities.
“United Ability’s coveted 4-star rating puts them in a very select group of high-performing charities,” according to Michael Thatcher, President & CEO of Charity Navigator. “This is our highest possible rating, and it indicates that United Ability adheres to sector best practices and executes its mission in a financially efficient way. Only 2% of the charities we evaluate have received eight consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that United Ability outperforms most other charities in America. This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator sets United Ability apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its trustworthiness.”
“Donors put their trust in United Ability. With every gift made, they want to know their dollars are going to help provide innovative services to connect people with disabilities to their community and empower them to live full and meaningful lives,’ states Dr. Gary Edwards, CEO of United Ability. “I am proud of our 8th consecutive 4-star Charity Navigator rating, as it demonstrates
United Ability’s solid governance and financial accountability.”
