Hearts Respite provides reimbursement for childcare to those families of a child with a disability under the age of 19 years. Caring for a child with a disability is emotionally and physically demanding. The Hearts Respite program allows the parent to train a caregiver of their choice in how to care for their child. The monies provided through the Children’s Trust Fund enable United Ability to reimburse those family members for their out of pocket child care expenses. This program is provided in collaboration with the Alabama Department of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention.
