Vision.  Heart.  Passion.  These words clearly define Dr. Gary Edwards and his never ending desire to be a proponent for those living with disabilities.

Simply stated, United Ability would not be where it is today without his valuable contributions.

In 1982, Dr. Edwards took the reins of United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Birmingham and forged the way to take the organization from a roughly 25 member staff to a team of over 170 today.  Moving in 2001 from an aging butler building on the north side of Birmingham to the beautiful Hand in Hand structure was a jumpstart for more positive outcomes on the horizon.  Then in 2006 the addition of the gorgeous LINCPoint building was completed.

Individuals from all over the world have visited United Ability to experience the effective and state of the art services provided for those individuals and families living with disabilities.

Dr. Edwards, aka Dr. E by the staff and participants who admire him, has truly delivered on our mission of providing innovative services connecting people with disabilities to their communities and empowering individuals to live full and meaningful lives.

Respected by the Participants, Children, Staff, Peers and Board, Dr. E could be resting on his laurels, so to speak.  However, his passion to continue to serve at United Ability is stronger than ever!

Celebrating now his 35thanniversary with United Ability, we say “Thank You, Dr. E, for making a difference.  Your service has impacted the lives of many thousands”.
